If we want to be honest, any year that Kendrick Lamar releases new music is the year of Kendrick. 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly was the most important album of the year, and almost exactly two years later, Lamar has given us more of his genius. It started last week with the release of “The Heart Part 4,” and it continued last night with the release of new track and video “HUMBLE.”

The video is filled with religious motifs as Kendrick dresses like the Pope, participates in his own version of the Last Supper, and gathers his fellow black men in a church. Producer Mike WiLL Made-It delivers the beat of the year so far, and Kendrick doesn’t waste it. The title of the track comes from the hook, delivered like a mantra, or a prayer: “Sit down. Be humble.”

Here’s the video, directed by Dave Meyers:

If the end of “The Heart Part 4” is to be taken as truth, Kendrick Lamar’s next album is probably going to be released a week from today, April 7. Keep tuning in, you won’t want to miss the release if it’s true.
