One of 2023’s biggest and best breakouts in the alternative/rock corner of music, Letdown., has elected to take no time off and push forward in 2024 with new music and keep the momentum going.

Although started as a pandemic project for Blake Coddington, things took a turn for the better in 2022 when Letdown. signed to Big Loud Rock after spending his early beginnings cultivating a rabid fanbase all on his own. His debut EP, Crying in the Shower, was released back in February of 2023 and has amassed over 80 million streams collectively while the title-track cracked the top 20 at alternative radio in the U.S.

Just last month, Letdown. released his dual single “Anxiety” and “Making Miseries” which garnered him some of his biggest release date streams yet — while “Anxiety” itself was featured on MTV’s The Challenge.

Wasting no time, Letdown. is already ready to provide fans with more new music, this time with the alt/rock anthemic single, “Hate Myself.” It’s yet another song that will surely keep fans more than satisfied while reeling new ones in along the way, leading up to the release of his debut album that will be released later this year.

On the new single, Coddington explains, “The concept of self-loathing revolves around acknowledging that one’s life has reached a nadir and ultimately embracing this reality. Engaging in a futile struggle against intrusive thoughts proves to be counterproductive, as one succumbs to their influence and reacts in manners they have long yearned for. It is a sentiment shared by many, this desire to revolt against the monotony of our existence, yet we comprehend that improvement lies on the horizon.”

Substream is also thrilled to be working with Letdown. and Big Loud Rock to be bringing you the accompanying music video for “Hate Myself,” which can be found below. “‘Hate Myself'” was an absolute blast to shoot. The video showcases the impact of intrusive thoughts taking control in a typical, stressful real-life situation,” Coddington says regarding the video. “With brilliant direction from Max Moore (All Time Low, JXDN), the video comes to life in a way that brilliantly captures the innermost desires that we all share to break free from the mundane and let our hair down. The experience of shooting this video was truly unforgettable and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

This is only the beginning of what is sure to become a banner year for Letdown., with the aforementioned debut album coming and upcoming summer tour plans expected to be revealed soon. Keep an eye out here as we will keep you updated all along the way for what this rising star has in the making.
