Without releasing capacity, lineup, or any other details, Governor’s Ball announces that it will be returning before the end of the year.

The festival is currently scheduled to take place the weekend of September 24-26, with an unannounced lineup set to be completely different from last year’s cancelled event.

Right now, details surrounding capacity and vaccine requirements are blurry. The event will also not be taking place on Randalls Island. Details regarding the exact location are not currently available, but that it would take place in NYC. Whether any acts that were scheduled for last year will be moved over to the new lineup is unclear.

On an FAQ page, Governors Ball organizers said they remain “hopeful” that the 2021 event will happen as COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out, but admit that what COVID safety requirements will be needed is a bit of a “moving target” given the uncertainty and the slow rollout of COVID-19 vaccines. “Rest assured that safety is our first priority and we are working closely with all city and state authorities on everything,” the FAQ reads.

Refunds are still available at point of sale for the cancelled 2020 event, and will be until Wednesday, Jan 27th.
