There are some collaborations that just make sense as soon as you see them. They’re the peanut butter and jelly of musical partnerships: they work because of course they do. When the track list for Tove Lo‘s upcoming album Sunshine Kitty dropped and Kylie Minogue was on the album, it struck us as one of those partnerships. Today they confirmed our suspicions by dropping their collaboration, the track “Really don’t like u.”
Even musically, “Really don’t like u” sounds like the best versions of Minogue and Tove Lo’s songs mashed together. All of the glitz and pop power of Minogue’s catalogue combines with the innovative, intense arrangements from Tove Lo to create a track that is both incredibly catchy and complex in the best way. Both women have brought their A game here, and it shows.
