Punk rock band Starcrawler have finally announced the release date of their forthcoming sophomore endeavor Devour You. Set to arrive on October 11 via Rough Trade, the album is meant to capture the aggression of their crazy live shows (they’re known to spit fake blood), and twisting it into something even more raucous, albeit more gracefully composed. As the vocalist Arrow de Wilde says, this new record “encapsulates all the blood, sweat, bruised knees, and broken fingers of a Starcrawler show.” The live Starcrawler experience all from the comfort (and safety) of our own homes? And if you’re dying for a taste of it now, look no further. The band have this morning released the first preview of the new music, “Bet My Brains”, along with a chaotic video to go with it. In true Starcrawler style, the video sees lead singer Arrow swinging around in bold makeup, almost screaming the words with true passion. Watch below!
“That song came from thinking about the tunnel people in New York and Vegas and the Catacombs in France, and the underground village of people who live in the sewers of the L.A. River,” says de Wilde of the song. “I was fascinated with the fact that there is a whole other world happening right under our feet,” guitarist and vocalist Henri Cash adds: “Arrow and I hadn’t even talked about it yet, but I’d already written something about the same thing—about how these people’s eyes adapt to pitch-blackness, and they end up going crazy from never seeing the sunlight.”
To celebrate album release, the band has also been confirmed for a string of North American tour dates, kicking off right around release date, at San Diego’s The Irenic. Tickets are available here, and you can pre-order ‘Devour You’ here.
