Not only is Toronto home to the best hockey team in the entire world (Let’s go Leafs!), it’s also the place where the retro-styled quartet The Dreamboats started their journey of bringing back “good ol’ fashioned Rock n’ Roll.”

And so far, these Toronto natives have done a pretty good job of doing that. Which is why Substream is honored to be premiering their latest single, a lively little number called “Water Under The Bridge.”

The track highlights the band’s unique style, all the while giving a nod to some classic artists way before the group’s time. But don’t let that deter you from checking this quartet out. While it pulls you back to the ’50s and ’60s, the group still deliver a modern and upbeat pop-rock track.

Speaking of the inspiration behind the track, Bryan Lewis, who plays bass and does vocals for the band, shared:

“As a band, we have always been inspired by artists like The Platters, Ben E. King, The Drifters, and Sam Cooke, and although our roots have always been planted in that early rock and roll sound of Chuck Berry and the early Beatles, there was a part of us that wanted to recreate some of the magic that you find in those early soul and R&B songs. It’s the honesty, the vibe, the space, and the simplicity that hits you. You hear it in songs like ‘Only You,’ ‘Bring It On Home to Me’ or ‘There Goes My Baby.’

Throughout the songwriting and recording process, it was that magic that was our guiding principle. We had little notes written down from sections of songs that we loved and that we wanted to recreate.  I think what we ended up with is a song that is uniquely us; having inspiration from old classics that we love, and delivering it with the energy and sound of the modern band that we are.”
