LA’s favorite pop girl-band has finally released their sophomore single, “What Do You Like In Me”, out today on Charli XCX’s label imprint Vroom Vroom Recordings. The song, which comes with an official visual, is etheral and quirky, silly and sexy, and follows their incredibly successful (and catchy) debut single, “Win”. And the video matches the vibe of the song perfectly: it’s hazy, quirky, and nostalgic. Watch below.

“The song is personal to all of us…” lead singer Gabbriette Betchel shares, “Indiana and I wanted to create a world that felt familiar and timeless and let the song speak for itself. We used all of our own clothes and “props” from our homes and friends to help out…it was a wonderful collaboration that I’m so happy was born.”

“What Do You Like In Me”, according to the band, came together in just one day in Los Angeles, and showcases a much more mellow tone from the band, held afloat by hazy synths and nonchalant chords that back Gabby’s dreamy voice as she sings of the demands and drains of relationships both online and offline.

Comprised of lead singer Bechtel, guitarist Chloe Chaidez (of Kitten), bassist Georgia Somary, and drummer Debbie Knox-Hewson (who was also Charli’s drummer back in 2014), NC describe themselves as the band that would come about “if Robert Smith was created by Andy Warhol in the Factory, or The Strokes, if they all had vaginas.” Charli herself is not in the band, but she does play quite an active role as what could be considered an honorary fifth member, and has reportedly been involved one way or another in writing all of their songs.

Following a sold-out show at LA’s Morrocan Lounge back in March, the girls are playing their second headline show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on Tuesday June 18,  so if you live in NYC and are feeling bold, leave work early and run to see them: we can only assume they’ll be giving us an exciting sneak peek of what’s to come!
