Elise Hayes’ “Giving Up” is a powerful, three-minute pop track. The song acts as a reminder to everyone that breakups can be your greatest gift, even if at first you didn’t see it.
Of the track, Hayes says, “Over the past couple of years, I’ve had a few girlfriends get dumped by guys that were never good enough for them. Each time, the dude has been like, ‘I can’t do this. I’m giving up’ and to me, it’s like — wait, do you really know what you’re giving up? Do you realize how good you had it? I just wanted to write this song for every girl (or guy) that’s been broken up with as a reminder that you’re worth so much with or without a dude, and sometimes someone leaving you is the greatest gift, even if it’s hard to see at the time.”
