Slow Caves is a dreamy alternative-rock band hailing from Fort Collins, Colorado. The band formed just 5 years ago, and it didn’t take long for them to build a reputation for themselves. Driven by Danish-born brothers Jakob and Oliver Mueller (and joined by childhood friend David Dugan on guitars/bass) they offer a surf-y, modern take on 80’s synth and 90’s alternative.

After 2015 saw them at SXSW in Austin and CMJ in New York, in late-2016 Slow Caves signed with Cincinnati, Ohio-based Old Flame Records (Cloud Nothings, Dead Confederate). Their debut EP, Desert-Minded, via the label came in March 10, 2017 and provided the band with many new and exciting opportunities, having since opened for bands like Cold War Kids, Cake, St. Lucia, and more.

Now, Slow Caves is gearing up to release their debut album, Falling, next Friday, March 22nd via the label. The record was recorded at The Bubble in Austin, Texas with producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Jet, Built to Spill, The Darkness). Now, we are excited to team up with the band to bring you their new single and video, “Girlfriend.” The track is the perfect showcase for what they have to offer: melodic, catchy and dreamy indie-rock, similar to a band like Turnover, just louder.

“’Girlfriend’ was originally written as a solo acoustic track in 2015. It’s probably the oldest song on the album. It’s been around so long, the girlfriend referenced in the song is now my fiancé. Frenchie (the producer on ‘Falling’) was able to boost the track to the next level, and we love the final version. The video shoot was some of the most fun we’ve had as a band,” Oliver tells Substream. “We were playing a festival in Reno and we’re staying at this really cool old casino. We stayed up all through the night shooting in various locations around the hotel and city. We ended up getting kicked out of like 4 casinos for filming. It was really fun.”
