Because who else would fake kick-out a member of their band to promote a music video?

Over the weekend, Philadelphia’s Grayscale decided to post a tweet sharing the “new lineup” for Grayscale, kicking out drummer Nick Veno. On Monday this week, the band shared a teaser video of Veno getting kicked out over a group chat. Some speculated a new song or album announcement, as certain people seemed to be “in the know” who are friends with the band or who knew what they were up to.

Everything blew up across the internet, especially Twitter where fans were seen “unstanning” the band, or worse, putting them “in time out for what they did.” The band’s Wikipedia article was even updated to take Nick Veno out of the band and into “former members.”

It turns out that the drama over the weekend was to draw publicity for a new music video for the song, “If I Ever See You Again,” taken from the band’s 2017 debut, Adornment. The video (seen below) features Veno getting tossed into a WWE/wrestling ring. Check it out below.

Grayscale is currently on tour with State Champs, the Dangerous Summer, and Our Last Night. The tour has several dates left before Grayscale takes off to support the Maine on their You Are Ok North American run.
