TWIN XL is the new super-group consisting of ex-Summer Set members Stephen and Josh Gomez and Cameron Walker-Wright, formerly of NEKOKAT. Lucky for us, the new single “Friends” is streaming now. The music video, directed by Jade Ehlers (Weezer, MAX, Panic! At the Disco), is a daydream-like, introverted fantasy that reminisces of movies such as TED and is as captivating as the track itself.
Regarding the infectious single, TWIN XL states, “We really wanted to find that happy balance between writing a catchy pop song that still had a lot of depth lyrically and also had a dark sonic undertone. The lyrics in the first verse talk about our desire for isolation and the internal conflict of an introvert. As the story progresses, we find sanctuary in the presence of strangers in strange rooms completely outside our comfort zone – here, we are free of judgement and we are free to be whoever we want.”
“Friends” is one of three tracks released thus far by TWIN XL, and follows tracks “Good” and “Sunglasses.” The band will be joining The Mowgli’s and Jukebox The Ghost on their Making Friends Tour. Dates are below. A new album, How To Talk To Strangers, is slated for release on March 1st.
Check out the song.
