Stina’s appetite for Honeyblood has always been ‘In Plain Sight’. With a new album on the way and a radical re-envisioning of what Honeyblood is, Stina has a tough task on her hands. But, with lead single “The Third Degree” and the video that goes along with it, Stina shows us that she has it all under control. Watch below.

Honeyblood’s third album sees Stina Tweeddale finding her most ambitious form and steely focus yet. After having lost a member, the task fell on Tweeddale to revision Honeyblood from the ground up, as a solo project rather than a duo with drummer Cat Myers.

Honeyblood has always been Stina’s voice. Before it was even a band, or a name, Stina was writing the songs that would form the backbone of the band’s identity. In 2012, she made the duo’s first EP, the scuzzy lo-fi roots that ended up in their 2014 self-titled debut, on her bathroom floor. “It was nerve-wracking,” she says, recalling boarding a flight to Los Angeles on her own, but it was as much about her figuring out what path to take in life as it was about bringing these songs to fruition. Three albums in, Stina has stepped forward to finally claim the mantle of the project she birthed seven years ago, as a sole vision.

“I started writing this at home on my own. At first I felt like a bit of a loner,” she recalls of writing the album during the post-tour period, when drummer Cat Myers was off on a side-gig drumming for Mogwai. “But once I got used to the cabin-fever, I couldn’t turn back. I was isolated in my little house in the middle of nowhere. But it’s funny what happens when left to your own devices.” By the time Myers got back, the album already had a life of its own. That’s when she made the decision to go solo.

“I know I’ve done myself justice. I’ve made something I’m really happy with and I’m just itching to get going now. From now on this is how it’s gonna be.”
