After a breakup, sometimes the hardest part is acclimating to life without another person in it. When you love someone and let them go, even if parting ways was the right choice, all of a sudden you have to figure out life on your own, meanwhile you’re constantly surrounded by reminders of that person. In his new video for “Your Name”, which we’re thrilled to be premiering, Plested – born Phil Plested – goes through life doing things that would typically be meant for two all by himself.

Plested tells Substream, “’Your Name’ was written in New York with my good friend Scott Harris. We started the session talking about a girl, someone I’d found myself talking about every day, everywhere I went, to everyone I met in LA the month before. So we decided to write the song about that; not being able to stop talking about someone you love or have lost! It’s sad because it could be about loss, but it can be happy because it’s about remembering someone and having someone to miss.”

Plested has made a name for himself writing songs for top UK artists like Zayn Malik, Kygo feat. Miguel, and Little Mix; now, he’s here to share his own heart as he figures out love, a career, and how to balance the two. Written in New York with Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes, X Ambassadors), “Your Name” comes off Plested’s debut project First & Foremost. First & Foremost is out now on Atlantic Records and can be streamed below.
