We’ve still got a month and a half left in 2018, but it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the music of 2019. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic year of music, and the news got even better today. The Japanese House–who released new single “Lilo” in September–has announced her debut album Good At Falling is coming in March of 2019. Amber Bain, the woman behind The Japanese House, was also on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show this morning to unveil another new single, this one titled “Follow My Girl.”
“Follow My Girl” is an incredibly nuanced piece of music, and Bain makes every aspect of it shine. From the serene electronic notes of the opening seconds to Bain’s soothing voice coming in over top of them, each instrument is perfectly balanced. The track gets increasingly more complex from there, with more and more musical elements cropping up and Bain’s voice layering over itself. There’s a lot going on to parse out, but she makes every piece of the composition work together in harmony.
Good At Falling is set for release on March 1, 2019, through Dirty Hit/Interscope Records. The album is 13 tracks long and includes both “Follow My Girl” and “Lilo.” The album ends on “i saw you in a dream,” which is a brand new version of previous single “Saw You In A Dream.” Pre-orders for Good At Falling are live now, and can be found here.
