Austin, Texas rock band Ume is gearing up to release their new album, Other Nature, on July 20h via Modern Outsider. The album was recorded with Grammy-winning producer/engineer Stuart Sikes (Loretta Lynn, Modest Mouse, Cat Power) over a 2-week span in their hometown of Austin.
Other Nature is a record that showcases deeply personal and transformative songs written by Ume guitarist/vocalist Lauren Larson. Larson goes on to explain that “I went into the studio with 10 demos written by myself while my new baby slept. I didn’t write them as an Ume record, nor as a solo project. I wrote them because I had to, I didn’t even know if the band would be able to continue, nor if we had the support of a label, but I needed to recover and accept myself, let go of fear and let love in and these songs were the journey.”
Today, we are excited to be premiering the first single from Other Nature, called “Two Years Sleep.” The track is a straight rock song with quiet, soothing verses followed by a loud crashing chorus as Larson’s vocals provide a layered, haunting sound. But don’t just read me describe it, listen for yourself below.
It has been four years since Ume released their last album, Monuments, and based off of “Two Years Sleep,” Other Nature is sure to be another solid release from the band.
