Feelings are hard. You know it, I know it, it’s a universal truth. Sorting through your emotions is an important thing to do, but at the same time it can be difficult. Musicians often deal with this through their music, and Canadian band Nap Eyes are no exception. They’ll be doing a lot of searching come March, with the band announcing the release of their third album I’m Bad Now. Nap Eyes also gave a sneak peek of what’s to come with lead single “Every Time The Feeling.”
The instrumentation for “Every Time The Feeling” perfectly mirrors the emotional process of the lyrics. While Nigel Chapman sings of trying to sort through his thoughts and feelings, bassist Josh Salter and drummer Seamus Dalton lay down a soothing musical baseline. Meanwhile, guitarist Brad Loughead gives the song a bit of volatility, much like the headspace explored in the lyrics.
“Every Time The Feeling” comes with a music video, with gorgeous animation from Nathan David Smith paired with a very cool border by Danika Vandersteen. Under all of this is home footage from a tranquil country home.
You can watch the video for “Every Time The Feeling” above. Nap Eyes’ new album I’m Bad Now will be released through Paradise of Bachelors on March 9, and can be pre-ordered here. The band will also be touring in support of the album, with a list of the North American dates found below.
