One of the best alternative bands of the last decade is taking an indefinite break.

The only thing worse than a world without The Summer Set is one where fans are not provided an opportunity to sing along with the band’s final songs one last time. If you agree, then allow me to inform you we have entered the worst possible timeline. The Summer Set is going on indefinite hiatus. Not in two weeks, not after a farewell tour, but right away. The band is done and they don’t seem too keen on returning anytime soon.

Writing to fans across social media, The Summer Set revealed their hiatus plans with an open letter to followers. The message thanks supporters for their dedication before revealing that vocalist Brian Logan Dales quietly left the band at some point in the last year. The remaining members support his decision, but cannot continue without him. You can read the message in full below:

The Summer Set released their final album, Stories For Monday, in the spring of 2016. The band toured heavily throughout the last year, but signs of the band’s time coming to an end were apparent. Dales launched his solo project, which is called Dales, in the early months of 2017. His first single, “Young For The Summer,” sounds like this:
