A large swath of the American public are fascinated by British royalty. Whether it’s documentaries on HISTORY or something like Victoria on PBS, we eat up shows about the lives of those who have been King or Queen. Last year, Netflix tapped into that with The Crown, a historical drama following the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II, played by Claire Foy. The show was evidently a hit, as today a teaser was released for the second season of the show.

Based on remarks at the beginning of the teaser, the second season takes place in the 1960s, a time when many countries were separating from the British Empire in order to govern themselves. While this seems to serve as the large scale conflict of the season, there’s also a great focus on the Queen’s personal relationships as well. Namely, everyone around her is not particularly thrilled with the royal life. This applies most of all to her husband, Prince Philip (Matt Smith). The first season did a fantastic job of creating compelling personal interactions set against the backdrop of historic moments, and the teaser indicates the second season will follow suit.

You can watch the teaser above. The second season of The Crown is coming to Netflix on December 8.
