Replacing a board game with a video game and exchanging two kids for four angsty teenagers, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle flips the script on the classic Robin Williams family film for a whole new generation. The first trailer arrived online this morning and in it we are transported to the land we only heard about in the first film. Once there, four unlikely companions will have to work together in order to find a way home, not to mention survive the night.

The official synopsis for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle reads:

“In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…”

You might notice Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale briefly appearing in the footage above as well. Their roles are being kept secret, but I would wage one or both are players who have been stuck inside the game for years. Hopefully we will learn more about their characters in the months ahead.

Are you ready for this all-new adventure? The game begins December 20.
