Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rocker Freddie Nelson is less than two weeks away from releasing his debut solo full-length record, titled Shake The Cage. To get a taste of what you might expect from the effort you can view the video for one of Nelson’s newest singles, “Hey Doll,” below.
With a mission statement of sorts, Nelson says, “The record is called Shake The Cage because I feel that a lot of music has become one dimensional with tools such as pitch correction and formulated songwriting. There is no substitute for hard work and honing your craft, and it’s time to challenge mediocrity.” Nelson adds, “I let my instincts guide me, and this album is the result of living in the moment.”
“Hey Doll,” much like the entirety of Shake The Cage, is a catchy and theatrical modern rock and roll jam with influences seemingly coming from the very best of the genre’s classic pioneers. Check it out below and be on the lookout for Nelson’s full debut on July 7 via his website.
