We here at Substream don’t mind a serious superhero movie, but we also love when a film can get goofy while still retaining the heroic vibe. With that knowledge at hand, we’re naturally dying to see Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and revisit our ragtag group of space heroes. Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live a new trailer debuted, and it’s given us a ton of new footage to parse through.
We see more of the prelude into the fight against the weird tentacle monster we’ve seen before, which includes Peter Quill (Christ Pratt) expressing dismay that Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is butting in on his role as the gun guy, and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) prepping the music. This time around the trailer is set to Fleetwood Mac’s hit “The Chain.” There’s a lot of new action going on, more of the encounter with new villain Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), more of the group banter, and Peter finally meeting his father—played by Kurt Russell—in the final seconds. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release on May 5 and also stars Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Dave Bautista. James Gunn is back to direct, and you can read our new editorial about him by our film critic Leigh Monson right here.
