Tom Araya and Kerry King met while schooling at South Gate High School in California. They formed the legendary heavy metal band Slayer. Araya became commonly known as the vocalist while King gained the nickname the guitarist. They pushed the band to its maximum limits. From 1981 to 1986, the band had gained international popularity. Rob Halford

From a young age, Rob Halford became popularly known as the Judas Priest. He gained the name due to his influence in the heavy metal field. He met with Kenneth Downing and Ian Hill while schooling at Walsall College in England. They created the Judas Priest Band.

Singing as a vocalist, Halford became a renowned personality in the heavy metal field. They held crowd-moving live performances and moved audiences globally. Some of their titles including British Steel and Sad Wings of Destiny redefined the genre. He remains a key driving force in this music genre to date.

Dave Mustaine

Dave Mustaine was a student at Jefferson High School in California. His love for heavy metal helped him meet with Lars Ulrich. He joined Metallica for a short time before creating Megadeth. As a guitarist and songwriter, he turned the band into an icon.

His zeal to rise to the top saw him give stiff competition to some of the top teams then.  His fame leveled up with bands such as Anthrax, Metallica, and Slayer. Within the 1980s and 1990s, he released albums that became super popular. Some on the list include Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, and So Far, So Good.

The Abbott Brothers

Darrel Abbott and Vinnie Paul Abbott were known as the Abbott Brothers. They were born, raised, and schooled in Arlington, Texas. They began loving music while still young. In their late teenage years, they formed the Pantera Band. Initially, they focused on glam metal but later divided into heavy metal. Their album Cowboys from Hell gave them a strong reputation across the US. The band’s success went on until 2003 when Dimebag was shot dead on stage. That was when the band unofficially ended.
