Country-rocker HARDY has just released his latest rock-influenced single, “ROCKSTAR.” It’s the second song released from his to-be-announced upcoming album, following last month’s “QUIT!!”
Whereas his 2033 album the mockingbird & THE CROW was a half country/half rock album, HARDY has previously stated that his new album would simply be a rock record. Based on the two singles we have so far, it’s safe to say that he has taken it to the next level.
”ROCKSTAR” was written by HARDY, Jacob Durrett (Chris Lane’s “Big, Big Plans,” HARDY’s “QUIT!!,” Morgan Wallen’s “I Wrote The Book”) and Blake Pendergrass (Morgan Wallen’s “180,” Chase Rice’s “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer”). The single is a tongue-in-cheek track that was produced by RIAA-diamond certified producer Joey Moi, who co-produced the mockingbird & THE CROW.
While the songs lyric reference Nickelback’s “Rockstar,” while the accompanying music video released today finds HARDY impersonating Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, AC/DC’s Angus Young, Queen’s Freddy Mercury and other famous rock icons.
”‘ROCKSTAR’ is my ‘REDNECKER’ for rock ‘n roll,” HARDY says referencing his 2018 breakout single. “I feel like it’s the first rock song I’ve released that doesn’t take itself seriously and the music video follows suit.”
No official release date has been revealed for HARDY’s aforementioned upcoming rock album, but he has previously promised it would would be out before his upcoming summer tour. The “QUIT!!” tour finds the singer headlining his largest venues yet, and is set to kick off in May. Tickets can be purchased here.
