An important thing to remember is that no matter who you are, you have value. Despite what beauty standards or popular culture might try to drill into you, no matter what you may look like or what you’re going through, you are worthy of love. I’m not the only one who thinks so. French pop trio Las Aves are all about that positivity too. The band–who count Miley Cyrus as a supporter–are bringing that message strong today with new track “Worth It” and the accompanying music video, which we’re thrilled to premiere. The track is from Las Aves’s upcoming album I’ll Never Give Up On Love Until I Can Put A Name On It.

“Worth It” is a great introduction to the trio’s sound. A wonderful blend of dance-quality beats and electro-pop production and synth work, “Worth It” rises and falls with vocalist Géraldine Baux’s mood and energy. She spends the beginning of the track recalling a time where she didn’t value herself and was not happy with herself or her appearance. This portion of the track is more somber, but once the chorus hits everything changes. Baux proudly proclaims she’s “worth it,” and the music bursts into a jubilant celebration alongside this revelation.

The music video also contains this idea of self-discovery and validation. Starring actress Circe Bloom, the video follows a woman who comes out of the ocean and finds that she appears to be the only person left in the world. As the song plays, we get to see her come to terms with herself and come to love her own worth without the influence or pressure of anyone else. It’s a clever visualization of what Las Aves are talking about on “Worth It.”

Asked about the track, Baux says “It’s an important song for me, as it is what I would have liked to hear in my teenage years. For many of us girls, we feel a crushing pressure on our body. To be perfect, to be thinner, to be stronger. It can be very devastating, even leading to anorexia or bulimia. This song is about freeing yourself from it and taking your power back.”

You can watch the video for “Worth It” below. You also don’t have to wait long to hear the rest of I’ll Never Give Up On Love Until I Can Put A Name On It. The new album drops tomorrow, August 30.
