Hang Tight is a punk-rock band from New Jersey, and consists of members Pete Zengerle, Bill Cardella, Montana Voegtlin, and Juan Ramirez. Together, they aim to craft signature sounding punk that’s nostalgic-driven, reminiscent of an old Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtrack, while also mixing in elements of new wave surf rock.

Not too long after forming, Hang Tight dropped their debut EP, Grind, back in 2017. Released via Standby Records, the release was a pretty quick success with its debut at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers and #48 on top new artists. Grind was recorded at Zengerles’ home studio and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Underoath, New Found Glory, Paramore).

While the band is heavily influenced by the aforementioned nostalgic punk sound, they put a heavy focus on their polished songwriting. We are excited to team up with Hang Tight to premiere their new single, “It’s So Whatever.” It serves as a gentle reminder that Hang Tight is still mastering their own craft, introducing some more modern elements to their sound as well.

“‘It’s So Whatever’ is a song about becoming numb to having your heart obliterated over and over again. Comparing falling in and out of love to the seasons, always wishing for warmer weather but every time it comes it leaves soon after and the cycle repeats,” the band tells Substream.
