What better way to start off a Friday morning than by checking out a brand new music video? Today we’re sharing the video for “So Lonely” by power-pop/ garage rockers Kurt Baker Combo, their take on the song originally performed by underground Swedish duo The Radio. At first, Kurt Baker Combo’s take on “So Lonely” seems like something straight out of the 60s, but there’s a rock-and-roll spin in the distorted guitars that makes it feel brand new. Even through lyrics about being “so lonely” and “so blue”, the melodies are catchy and you can’t help but want to smile. We’ve all been lonely at one point or another, but maybe it’s not so bad if we’re in it together.

For the “So Lonely” video, they’ve decided to throw it back to 1963, with a clip heavily inspired by the Beatles and Ed Sullivan. Kurt says about the video, “The Beatles “Hard Days Night” had a huge impact on my when I was a kid. It’s still to this day one of my favorite Rock N Roll Movies. Musically, Power Pop is very rooted in the sound and aesthetic of The Beatles. So, for this clip that accompanies our single “So Lonely”, which is one of the more power pop tracks on the new record, we aimed to showcase our admiration and influence of the Beatles with this clip. Filmed with an old school camera in my neighborhood of Madrid, we had the pleasure of working with the very talented director Diego Jimenez on this, who was able to take us from 2018 way back to the Mersey Beat days of 1963. As a bonus, you’ll hear our boss Little Steven doing his Ed Sullivan impression on the intro!”

Originally from Portland, Maine, Kurt Baker was looking for a place to “go wild”, and soon found himself in Madrid, Spain. “So Lonely” comes as the first single from Let’s Go Wild!,  Kurt Baker Combo’s forthcoming album which takes its name from something drummer Sam Malakian always screams before their performances. Kurt Baker Combo is rounded out by bassist Juancho Lopez (also an experienced promoter and manager) and lead guitarist Jorge Colldan. Let’s Go Wild! is due out May 18 via Wicked Cool Records.

Kurt Baker Combo will be touring Europe beginning early next week; head to www.kurtbakermusic.com to see the full list of shows, and keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for all updates.
