A Perfect Circle Circle begin 2018 strong with new song "Disillusioned"

A Perfect Circle have kicked off 2018 with a brand new song called “Disillusioned.” It is the second single (following “The Doomed“) released from their forthcoming as-of-yet untitled album. This will be their first album released since 2004, not including a greatest hits release in 2013.

While “The Doomed” had a more darker and eerie feel to it, “Disillusioned” comes off intending to be more optimistic as it urges the listener to re-connect with other people again.

“’The Doomed’ was a rude wake-up call… apologies if you were sleeping peacefully,” said Billy Howerdel of the tone of the song. “’Disillusioned’ comes from a place of overcoming the slide into the numb. It speaks to reconnection and a fresh start to a new year.”

Regarding the music on “Disillusioned,” vocalist Maynard James Keenan had this to say: “Attempting new approaches to composing can be intimidating. Especially with an established project with such a recognizable sound. But sometimes you just gotta take the first swing. Only way to grow.”

While waiting for the new album, a 10-inch single for “The Doomed/Disillusioned” will be released on March 9th. You can pre-order that here.
