Since the early days of Marvel‘s Netflix lineup, we knew that The Defenders were coming. The combination of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist together in one series has always been a tantalizing thought. With the release of the newest trailer from San Diego Comic Con 2017, it looks like The Defenders is stacking up to deliver.
The trailer beings with Sigourney Weaver’s villain narrating the nature of war and her confidence that she will win. Of course the group of four superheroes won’t let that happen without a fight, and there’s a ton of footage of the team in action. There’s also the expected growing pains of the four… strong personalities, if you will. A huge plethora of side characters from the previous series are shown, with Daredevil mentor Stick and general do-gooder Claire Temple on the side of good, and Elektra with the bad guys (for now).
The Defenders features an all-star lineup of talent including Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Weaver, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Henwick, and Elodie Yung. The show will begin streaming on Netflix on August 18.
