Tigers Jaw is back. That’s all we needed to hear in order to celebrate today.

Thankfully, the band was nice enough to give us a little more to sink our teeth into than that. Brianna Collins and Ben Walsh bestowed upon us news of an upcoming album, tour and a brand new single, “Guardian,” to listen to while we wait for the rest of it (via NPR).

To put your worries to rest, Tigers Jaw is still the band you know and love on “Guardian.” Walsh’s warm guitar combined with Collins on keyboard is still a beautiful combination, and the two harmonize fantastically. There’s also a fun video of the duo in the studio recording the song in between quality time with a Nerf basketball.

The lyrics are infinitely relatable, and as NPR reported, the band explained the song as “deal[ing] with the struggle of being someone’s support system while dealing with your own anxieties and issues. When you neglect your own mental health by channeling your focus into other things, putting your head down and forcing normalcy into work and relationships, those issues come back stronger when you run out of distractions. Simple, everyday tasks can become significant sources of anxiety.”

The album is called spin and will be the band’s fifth effort. The album will be the debut release from Will Yip’s new label Black Cement Records under the Atlantic Records umbrella. The album is set for release on May 19. Take a look at the beautifully painted album cover:

Finally, Tigers Jaw will go on tour to support the album starting with an album release show on May 19 in Washington DC. From there, the tour winds throughout the country for the next month, ending in Boston on June 24. Tour dates are below, and tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10am local time. The band’s website has more information. No matter which part you’re most excited for, Tigers Jaw has certainly delivered today.
