Ra Ra Riot have returned with their brand new single “Bad To Worse.”

Dropped earlier today, the group shared the track, which was produced by and co-written with Rostam Batmanglij, who you may recognize from his past work with indie-rock group Vampire Weekend.

This isn’t the first time Batmanglij has helped out with Ra Ra Riot, he also shares a co-writing and producing credit on the group’s single “Water,” which was taken from 2016’s Need Your Light.

According to a press release, the latest song retells the story of one fateful nine-hour road trip from Washington D.C. to the outermost part of Cape Cod. The song tackles an interesting theme of the tired perspective one gets from sitting in a car on one of those long trips.

Of the band’s latest release, the group’s lead singer, Wes Miles, shared:

“It’s about watching the world from the window of the car or bus, and how there’s a familiarity to everything but it’s never the same as it once was. A simply adorned song, it offsets those wistful lyrics with bright beats and warm textures sculpted with the help of Batmanglij’s vast collection vintage synths.”

The latest single follows the 2018 release of their other track “This Time Of Year.” Both of which is our first taste of new music from the group since 2016, when they released Need Your Light.

The best news of all? According to the release, both of the most recent singles are set to be featured on the band’s next album, which is still waiting to get an official announcement.
