Dream Haze was formed in early-2016 by twin brothers James and Jake Taylor in El Centro, California. The two came together and released their debut EP shortly after, first showing off their brand of emotive rock music crossing the indie, punk, and emo genres.

The twin brothers ultimately added drummer Diego Corrales to round out the band and transform into a trio. Dream Haze, now as a trio for the first time, hit the studio with Saosin‘s Beau Burchell and the end result was their 2017 EP, Wisher. The sophomore release once again showed the band’s eclectic range of influences, cultivating in a three-track release full of catchy choruses.

We have the exclusive premiere of their new song, “Menthol,” which you can find at the top of this post. The song is part one of a double single from Dream Haze, “Menthol/Gloss,” which will drop tomorrow, October 27th.

“The lyrics for ‘Menthol’ were written in December of 2017. The music wasn’t put together until about a month before we were scheduled to hit the studio in June 2018. This song is about feeling out of place in your own skin and using different coping mechanisms in hopes of finding comfort,” explains Jake Taylor.

The song is a shining example of Dream Haze continuing to grow and move forward with their young music career. “Menthol” is an incredibly enjoyable mix of their aforementioned indie and punk tendencies. The track was also produced by Burchell, and he brought to life their intricate riffs, layered with a catchy, ambient, and dreamy sound if rock music.
