“In My Blood” is a beautiful song. Shawn Mendes‘ March single is a stirring anthem for not giving up, even when things get tough. It’s about getting help and knowing that life can and does hold a world of happiness for you. In short, I love it. As Mednes’ first single from his third album, it was only a matter of time until the song received the video treatment. That video for “In My Blood” is here now, and it’s as breathtaking as the song.
The first line of “In My Blood” is “Help me/it’s like the walls are caving in,” and the video begins with Mendes leaning against a wall. As the camera pans around him we see he’s actually lying on a wall-like surface, but the imagery is still striking. As the song progresses the environment changes around Mendes as he lies motionless. In the darker moments of “In My Blood” we see pieces of the wall fall off and rain pour down over Mendes. As the song reaches its uplifting conclusion, the weather brightens and the flowers on “In My Blood”‘s single art begin to bloom around Mendes, signaling his will and drive to keep going.
