It’s become pretty common for local bands to walk the line at big shows in their area to spread the word about their music. Pittsburgh pop punk band A Summer High took that method to the next level by traveling the country following 5 Seconds of Summer’s tour last July. The band–consisting of Mason Levi (bass/vocals), Luke Oxendale (guitar/vocals), James Anthony (guitar/vocals), Noah Oxendale (drums/vocals)–played an acoustic show to hundreds of people in parking lots across the nation. 5 Seconds of Summer even showed up before the show one night and tweeted out their support for the “legends.”
It’s this hard work and dedication that really makes a difference in a young band’s career. The parking lot hustle eventually led to A Summer High meeting executives at Warner Bros. Music and Spotify.
Now the band are gearing up to release their brand new EP, Pretty Little Liar, out July 28 via Four Chord Music and produced by Chris Badami (The Early November, The Starting Line, Hidden In Plain View).
Today, we’re excited to host the stream for the first song off the EP, “Kiss Me Gently.” It’s a sugary, summer anthem that will delight fans of this new era of pop punk
When asked about the song, the band said:
“This EP was about truly finding ourselves and straying from the path that so many other bands are pursuing. Staying true to the pop-rock, guitar-driven sound that we all grew up on and still love was extremely important to us. The band has always been about having fun and connecting with like-minded people. At the end of the day, if we are having fun making music and making people happy, we couldn’t ask for anything more.”
