What’s your favorite Jim Henson project? It’s hard to choose because there are so many great options to pick from. One of our personal favorites here at Substream is The Dark Crystal, the 1982 team-up of Henson and Frank Oz that really showcased the creativity, technical prowess, and imagination of Henson. If you share this fondness with us, today is a great day for you. Netflix has just given us the first look at The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the prequel series to the beloved film.

There is almost no actual footage of the show, but that doesn’t make us any less excited. The teaser shares a clip of an interview with Henson in which he talks about his love for The Dark Crystal. There’s also a lot of looks at concept art for the project. However, the most exciting part is the reveal that the series will be using animatronic puppets, keeping with the philosophy and vision Henson had. With The Jim Henson Company on-board with Netflix, we’re confident the series is in good hands.

There’s no release date yet, but stay tuned for further updates. This is one we’ll be watching closely. How about you? Comment below and let us know if you plan to tune in.
