James Gunn is known to a wide audience in recent years for writing and directing Guardians Of The Galaxy and its upcoming sequel for Marvel. He has a good history with smaller releases too, with 2006’s Slither and 2010’s Super being prime examples. It’s this area he’s exploring again in the red-band trailer for the latest work he’s written, The Belko Experiment.
Belko is a pretty standard non-profit, with your usual blue collar workers and cubicles. All of that changes when the building is suddenly sealed and phone lines are cut, with a voice over the intercom instructing the employees that they must take the lives of a few of their coworkers, or the mysterious voice will inflict more death themselves. As the situation grows more dire, the employees begin to crack, splintering between working together to escape and giving in to the sinister demands of the intercom. What follows is some brutal, bloody action as everyone fights to escape the twisted experiment.
You can watch the first trailer for The Belko Experiment below (it gets pretty graphic at points; you’ve been warned). The film was directed by Greg McLean and stars John C. McGinley (Scrubs), Adria Arjona (True Detective), John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead). It’s out in theaters on March 17, 2017.
