Our main cast are not even the first humans to reach the island. A group of residents there are led by John C. Reilly, who appears to be the comic relief and exposition man of the movie. He explains that while Kong rules the island, he’s not the island’s only strange inhabitant. That threat would be a host of various other creatures, from boney dinosaur-like beasts to giant spiders to a very large yak. Naturally, none of those animals are friendly. All of the animals—especially Kong—look great, and the movie appears to be a draw for anyone interested in creature design in monster films.
