Nashville indie rockers CIVILIAN will be releasing a brand new full-length album, titled You Wouldn’t Believe What Privilege Costs, through Tooth & Nail on October 21. Speaking of privilege, today we get to share a video for the band’s single, “Cut & Run,” that we feel should surely catch the attention of those who love the best of the best in indie rock—stuff in the vein of Death Cab For Cutie, As Tall As Lions, and Kevin Devine.

Shot live at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville where the band also recorded their upcoming album, the video finds CIVILIAN performing the elegant single with precision while giving you an intimate look at their process. Being that this video is part of a documentary the band is working on in support of their new album, you can likely expect more where this comes from in due time. Check it out the video for “Cut & Run” below.

Speaking to Substream about the story within his band’s new single, vocalist/guitarist Ryan Alexander says:

“‘Cut & Run’ is a song about a New Year’s Eve party. It revolves around the idea that sentiment matters, but not much. This is a song about effort, about asking myself what it means to love someone by giving them not just my time, but my thoughts. The characters in the song are standing out on a balcony and seeing their reflections as they stand next to each other wondering how to feel. The lyrics are just some of my own answers to those questions. It’s about deciding to stick it out because there’s no longer anyone on the other side of the glass that intrigues you more.”

You Wouldn’t Believe What Privilege Costs will be released through Tooth & Nail on October 21. The album can be pre-ordered through iTunes, Amazon, and PledgeMusic in a variety of bundles and options.
