I don’t know when it happened, but at some point in the last decade the Resident Evil series pretty much became the video game adaptation version of Fast And Furious, and by that I mean it evolved into a franchise that cannot be stopped. The sixth and supposedly final film is set to arrive in early 2017, and today we got our first look at all the over-the-top action it will contain.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter begins immediately following the events of 2012’s Retribution (as if anyone can remember what happened in that film). The first trailer doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but we do learn that Alice will be returning to Raccoon City to face-off against the Umbrella Corporation before they can launch an offensive against the remaining survivors of the apocalypse. We also know that she will be riding a motorcycle and that she will look like a total badass while doing so. Check it out:
The official synopsis for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter reads as follows:
“Humanity is on its last legs in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between regaining her superhuman abilities at Wesker’s hand and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.”
Resident Evil: The Final Chapters blasts its way into theaters on January 27, 2017. Expect more clips and trailers to surface in the coming months.
