PREMIERE: Bleak Falls channel their influences into noisy bedroom rock on ‘Bleak Life’ EP

Michigan indie rockers Bleak Falls are gearing up to release their brand new EP, titled Bleak Life, this Friday, June 24. Today, the band has allowed us to offer a full stream of the five-track effort ahead of its official release. Pulling influences from acts like Pavement, Modest Mouse, and Built To Spill, Bleak Falls boast a lo-fi bedroom rock sound that’s both dreary and dissonant in equal measure—at times mellow and introverted, while at others blaring aggressively with distorted guitars.

When asked about putting together this EP and what his band has in store for the foreseeable future, vocalist/guitarist AJ Boundy offered:

“I think I can speak for all of us when I say that recording/mixing/mastering the EP ourselves was an extremely rewarding process. The writing was pretty heavily influenced by my love for bands like Pavement, Rilo Kiley, and Archers of Loaf. We plan on touring the Midwest in support of ‘Bleak Life’ in early July. After that string of dates we’re heading back into the studio to put together something really special for y’all that’s been a long time coming. I shouldn’t go into full detail right now, but we’re very excited for the future.”

Bleak Life can be pre-ordered through Bandcamp for a measly $2. So listen in below and then pick up a copy for yourself. You can also catch the band on tour around Indiana and Michigan next month with Nouveau and Pines if you’re in the area (dates below).
