Beck releases new single “Wow” off upcoming album

Any day that we get a new Beck song is a good day. Therefore, that makes today a good day. Beck premiered “Wow” via iHeartRadio and put up a trippy lyric video on YouTube to accompany the track.

The song is your typical Beck fare, which is to say it’s absolutely brilliant. The instrumentals combine flute, piano, and a funky beat for Beck to espouse over. “It’s your life, you gotta try to get it right / Look around, don’t forget where you came from,” he muses at one point.

According to a press release (also through iHeartRadio), Beck’s next album is due out on October 21 through Capital Records. Beck has reportedly also been working with producer Greg Kurstin—who’s worked with Adele, Tegan and Sara, and Sia, amongst others—on the album. With this high-power team-up, plus the fact that Beck’s last album, 2014’s Morning Phase, won the GRAMMY for Album of the Year, the prospect of a new album is extremely exciting news.
