It seems appropriate to bring you this news on May 4: A new documentary about the making of Star Wars is coming soon, but it isn’t your traditional “George Lucas had a vision” story.
Elstree 1976 is a documentary about 10 people who were extras or had minor roles in Star Wars: A New Hope, including the actors behind the masks of such famous characters as Greedo, Boba Fett and Darth Vader himself. These 10 people all filmed their parts in the first installment of the original Star Wars trilogy in suburban North London in the summer of 1976, having no idea what a cultural phenomenon it would turn into.
Elstree 1976 will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray June 28 (pre-order). The film will also have a limited theatrical run in 24 U.S. cities starting this Friday, May 6 (locations). You can see a trailer as well as a clip from the documentary below.
