Mickey Keating’s ‘Carnage Park’ looks fun and terrifying

Carnage Park Trailer

What’s worse than being chased by men who want to kill you? According to the first trailer for Mickey Keating‘s new film Carnage Park the answer appears to be escaping from your attackers only to find yourself having unintentionally stumbled into a psychotic sniper’s playground. You might find some solace in the fact the sniper is also gunning for the men who wish to cause you harm, but that doesn’t mean you are in any way safe.

It’s 1978 when Carnage Park begins, and a bank robbery gone wrong leaves Vivian (Ashley Bell) the hostage of two criminals on the run. Things go from bad to off-the-rails berserk when she and her captors wind up on the sun-baked desert outpost of a deranged ex-military sniper (Pat Healy), who ensnares them in his deadly game of cat and mouse. Vivian has nowhere to run, but then again neither do the two men who took her hostage.

Carnage Park premiered at SXSW back in March and almost immediately became a title everyone was talking about. The film, which is the third title from Keating in as many years (following Darling and Pod), takes cues from 70s thrillers and blends them with a modern horror aesthetic to create something wholly unique, yet undeniably familiar. Keating has become something of an underground sensation in the world of horror, and though this film likely lacks the mainstream appeal needed to establish the creative filmmaker as a major talent we do believe the film will win him throngs of new fans when it’s released in theaters and on VOD July 1.
