UPDATE 9:08 p.m.: Beach Slang has issued a statement regarding the incident in Salt Lake City last night. In it, they confirm they have not broken up and will make their next show in Seattle tomorrow night. Frontman James Alex says in part:

“After I left the stage in Salt Lake, thinking I was ending Beach Slang, I was walking down the street, back to the hotel, when a girl from the show ran up to me, hugged me so sincerely, and said, “Don’t do this. We need you.” Straight away, I realized I was wrong. There is nothing sweet, there is no light, and there is nothing romantic when the thing you love is broken.

Salt Lake, for the car crash last night and Boise, for fumbling on you, I am gigantically sorry—even bigger than that. I am going to make good on making it up to you. Cross my heart.”

UPDATE 8:21 p.m.: Tonight’s Beach Slang show in Boise, Idaho, has been canceled. The band has still not issued a statement, though Substream has been in contact with their manager who says, “We’ll have more [information] soon.”

ORIGINAL STORY: Rumors are flying surrounding last night’s Beach Slang gig at Kilby Court in Salt Lake City. We have reached out to Beach Slang’s manager for comment who says he will talk with us later today. In the meantime, read our recent interview with Beach Slang frontman James Alex in what seemed to be much happier times.
