Space-rock pioneers Hum writing first new material in 18 years

Central Illinois space-rockers Hum, who originally disbanded in 2000, have reunited a handful of times throughout the past decade or so. But it seems like their 2015 reunion, which kicked off at SXSW and later included separate tours with fellow reunited acts Failure and Mineral, is going to be the one that sticks, as guitarist Tim Lash has confirmed the band are working on new music in a recent Facebook post.

“We’ve been busy writing and hope to have some new stuff to share soon,” Lash comments. “We hope to have some new music to share in the near future.”

Assuming it sees the light of day, this will be the first new music from Hum since 1998’s hugely influential Downward Is Heavenward, which featured the singles “Comin’ Home” and “Green To Me.”
