Set Your Goals returns to active duty with an explosive two-night stand in SoCal

Set Your Goals

Set Your Goals is back! Fresh off a show in Berkeley, California, SYG came down to Anaheim to play at the world famous Chain Reaction for two sold-out nights. The first show sold out in a matter of minutes, so they added one more to appease their rabid fans. There were fans representing different states and even different countries during the two-day stint. Some traveled from as far as Japan to see fan favorite songs like “Gaia Bleeds” and “The Fallen.”

There did seem to be an older crowd the first night, most likely fans that were disappointed that their last scheduled Chain show was canceled back in 2012. That didn’t stop the band from putting on a performance to be remembered, however. The band also played a song they recorded with Chad from New Found Glory a few years back called “I’ll Walk It Off,” delighting the fans of the future of Set Your Goals.

They brought out inflatables from the local dollar store, something fellow Californians the Aquabats! are known for. They even had fellow concertgoers come out and surf on an inflatable crocodile. Both shows had a vibe that had gone dormant for quite some time. There were kids stage-diving off of one another, each one trying to outdo the other.

The openers on both nights also had ties with the band in some way or another.  The first night had Light Brigade, Give And Take and Souvenirs opening. Light Brigade features Mikey from Set Your Goals on drums; Give And Take put out their first LP on SYG singer Matt Wilson’s Calaveras Records. Souvenirs had opened for SYG’s Holiday West Coast tour in 2011, as well as Such A Mess who opened Night two. Rounding out the rest of the openers were California bands Seasons Change and Forever Came Calling.
