South Carolina’s Brigades has come a long way since their first release, 2012’s The Last Laugh. They’ve shed the trappings of generic popcore, gotten considerably better as musicians and most importantly, frontman Darren Young has upped his game lyrically, as proven on their new album, Indefinite. Nowhere is this more evident than on “Dearly Beloved,” a powerful number about struggling with profound loss. Young explains:
“This goes out to anyone who has had to experience the struggle of getting over losing a family member or friend to death. It’s an uphill battle trying to find peace in saying goodbye and getting past the landslide of loss. It takes a lot of time, courage and heart.”
Brigades’ Indefinite is available now via Pure Noise Records.
Brigades’ next gig is March 13 at Amos’ Southend in Charlotte, North Carolina, opening for Saosin.
