Watch a pre-fame Halsey cover Blink-182 and Sleeping With Sirens

The buzz surrounding Halsey has been damn-near inescapable for the past year, and with good reason: The 21-year-old “New Americana” singer is crazy-talented and her debut LP Badlands is full of all sorts of alt-pop bangers. But before she was Halsey, she was Ashley Frangipane, just another teenager who probably spent too much time on YouTube and counted down the days to Warped Tour each summer. As proof of that, we’ve unearthed two videos of a pre-fame Halsey performing portions of Blink-182’s “I MIss You” and Sleeping With Sirens’ “James Dean And Aubrey Hepburn” a capella at what appears to be a mall in Philadelphia in August 2013—more than a year before her first original song as Halsey, “Ghosts,” was released. Take a trip down Before They Were Stars Lane with us, won’t you?
