PREMIERE: Anberlin’s Stephen Christian chills out with Anchor & Braille’s “Lower East Side”

Anchor & Braille

If you have a working pair of ears and owned a radio in the late 2000s, odds are you have heard Anberlin’s No. 1 hit “Feel Good Drag,” which was everywhere in 2008 and 2009. Stephen Christian fronted Anberlin from the group’s 2002 inception to their 2014 breakup, but there’s more to him than just loud, powerful rock songs, as he has consistently demonstrated with his solo project, Anchor & Braille.

Anchor & Braille’s new album, Songs For The Late Night Drive Home, finds Christian shedding much of the project’s earlier, more acoustic-based sound and embracing subtle electronic elements and pulsating beats, allowing him to showcase his breathy croon. Today, we’re premiering “Lower East Side,” which comes off as a cross between Washed Out and Depeche Mode. Take a listen below.

Anchor & Braille’s Songs For The Late Night Drive Home will be released February 5 via Tooth & Nail Records and can be pre-ordered here.
