Is Weezer about to release a new album this Friday?

Let’s recap the past few months: First, someone mashed up Weezer instrumentals with Kanye West, creating the brilliant Yeezer project. Then, less than a year after the release of Everything Will Be Alright In The End, news leaked that Weezer was dropping a brand new single, “Thank God For Girls.” We first heard it via a live bootleg, then via a bizarre-as-hell lyric video, and finally a hilarious music video. Then, just as everyone finished digesting that number, the band announced—surprise!—another brand new song, called “Do You Wanna Get High?” which is (in this writer’s humble opinion) totally awesome.

So that brings us to today, where the band has wiped clean their website and social media accounts to display nothing but white. Furthermore, Weezer uploaded a minute-long video to their YouTube page of—you guessed it—white noise. An email was also sent out to the Weezer fan club that was, again, all white, except with a brief bit of text at the bottom that reads, “Stay tuned.”

Could we be in for another new Weezer single? Or, probably more likely, another Weezer album? Will it be called the White Album? Or maybe White Noise? And just when will it come out? The band is performing on NBC’s Undateable live this Friday, January 15—and, conveniently, new albums come out on Fridays now. Weezer is also going to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 19, which is the type of things bands do when they have new albums released.

Take a listen to that YouTube video below, if you feel so inclined (though we’re not kidding when we tell you it is literally just one minute of white noise). And Rivers, if you’re reading this: Tweet us and let us know what the heck is going on, won’t you?
