Texas trio Purple has been getting quite a bit of buzz lately thanks to absolutely electric live shows and songs that are punky and catchy in all the right places. But for the band’s new 7-inch, Mini Van, they wanted to use the B-side to pay tribute to another legendary Texas musician. No, not George Strait—they chose to honor none other than Houston rapper Devin The Dude by covering his 2007 jam “What A Job” featuring Snoop Dogg and Andre 3000. Vocalist/drummer Hanna Brewer explains why they chose this atypical track to cover:
“We chose to cover ‘What A Job’ because it’s basically about our lives and how making music a career takes work. And I loooooooove Devin The Dude soooooo much!”
Purple’s Mini Van 7-inch will be released soon via Play It Again Sam and can be pre-ordered here.
